There’s an old Italian saying…
A poor man goes to church every day and prays before the statue of a great saint, begging: ‘Dear saint—please, please, please… give me the grace to win the lottery.’
This lament goes on for months. Finally, the exasperated statue comes to life, looks down at the begging man, and says in weary disgust: ‘My son—please, please, please… buy a ticket!'”
For years, we’ve been doing the work—quietly, consistently, with intention. Designing. Planning. Problem-solving. Refining every detail. Not for recognition, but because that’s the standard we hold ourselves to on every project. This year, we decided to take a step we hadn’t taken before.
We submitted.
We’re honoured to share that Sitka Concept has been named a finalist for the Canadian Home Builders’ Association National Awards for Housing Excellence, in the category of Best Basement Renovation. This recognition reflects more than the finished space. It represents:
When we learned that this year’s gala would take place in Quebec City—our hometown—it made the moment even more meaningful. From where we started, to where we are today, it felt like a quiet full-circle moment.

Recognition is never the goal. But it reflects something important. It reflects the discipline of doing things right. The patience to plan before building. The attention to detail that often goes unseen—but always makes the difference. Behind every finished space are conversations, adjustments, and hundreds of small decisions that shape the final result. This is the work we care deeply about.
To our clients—thank you for trusting us with your homes. To the trades and partners who bring these projects to life—this recognition is yours as much as it is ours.
Whether you’re just starting to explore ideas or ready to move forward, the early decisions matter more than most people realize.
If you’re considering a renovation, we’d be happy to guide you through the process.
