I love it when I am faced with an empty space to start creating a vision. The basement was not used, and this family of 5 wanted both boys to have a bedroom and bathroom that they could share and grow into.
Two brothers (while allowing their little sister to come and play) will share this newly remodelled basement. It was important in the design phase to remember that they will not stay small children forever and that the space can grow with them.
Minimal design with durable custom-made birch plywood built-ins & millwork, quartz countertops and solid melamine was used for a long-term life span and lots of playtime. I even asked my 3 teenagers for tips from their point of view to create the very best usage of space, from young children to young adults.
As a bonus, a complete private bathroom with a spark of bleu tile was added, making this basement room a dream coming true for every child (and every parent!).
